About The Club
Welcome to the Florida Mycological Society
Founded in 2024, the Florida Mycological Society (FMS) brings together a community of mushroom enthusiasts, from beginners to seasoned experts, united by a shared passion for the diverse and fascinating world of fungi. Our society is dedicated to exploring, studying, and preserving Florida’s unique fungal biodiversity while fostering education, scientific research, and sustainable foraging practices.
Our Mission
The Florida Mycological Society is committed to advancing the knowledge of fungi in Florida through education, research, and hands-on field exploration. We aim to deepen public understanding of the important ecological roles mushrooms and fungi play in our environment, from forest ecosystems to urban landscapes. By promoting safe and responsible foraging, we empower our members to connect with nature while preserving Florida’s fungi for future generations.
Our Vision
We envision a thriving community where enthusiasts and experts come together to appreciate the beauty and complexity of fungi, share knowledge, and contribute to the scientific understanding of mushroom species. Through collaboration with local researchers, conservation groups, and educational institutions, we hope to create a sustainable future for Florida’s fungal ecosystems.
